Hi, new user of Qlik here,
I'm trying to share some apps that i have created in my personal stream with colleagues in my office. Is there any way to do this without access to the QMC, or the option to publish the app, which we have been told will not be available to us?
Thanks!
Hi @superjon
This is certainly a security policy at your site; if you are planning to share some applications with some colleagues at your office, it is obvious the information rendered by these applications share a common interest with the team or department, if such is the case for you, you should get involve with the managers, as the restriction is affecting the team productivity (assuming these applications add value to the team-department operations) you may argue with the managers that (a) team productivity is impacted (b) you can develop the application with each colleague account (You could do it yourself, or pass them the step-by-step procedure to recreate the application, it is not impossible and indeed it is a crazy proposal, but I am listing your options.) (c) create a group, assigning all your colleagues to that group and all of them will benefit from your applications -- I am talking about Active Directory Groups, it is not a big deal to create them, and in most sited these AD-Groups are underutilized; Qlik's QMC security model easily reference these AD-Groups giving you guys an option to move forward.
Allowing your colleagues to access your applications via QMC security based on AD-Groups will not cost your company any extra license dollars, as the security is part of the product, but it benefit your company as a whole as one of the QlikSense target is sharing dashboards and solutions!
Hope this helps,
