Upgrading Qlik Sense Enterprise August 2022 on Windows from Qlik Sense April 2020 Patch 3

Is it possible to direct upgrade to Qlik Sense Enterprise August 2022 on Windows from Qlik Sense April 2020 Patch 3

or do I need to upgrade it to November 2020 first.

Considerations about older versions of the document says as below.

Qlik Sense February 2021 and later Support only .NET framework 4.8 or higher. Must upgrade to November 2020 first. This version also requires Visual C++ 2019 distributable package.

Thanks, @Qlik_Administrator_Dude ,

I did reach out to Qlik support for this and they've provided a link for previous version:

https://github.com/qlik-download/qlik-sense-server/releases/download/v13.102.5/Qlik_Sense_setup.exe

https://github.com/qlik-download/qlik-sense-server/releases/download/v13.102.27/Qlik_Sense_update.ex...

You can shorten that to get other versions as well:

https://github.com/qlik-download/qlik-sense-server/releases/

Hope this also helps in the future for others.

Cheers

Hi @Pool ,

Yes, you need to upgrade to Qlik Sense November 2020 first.

"Example: Qlik Sense Enterprise February 2021 supports only .NET 4.8. This means that to upgrade from older versions, you should first upgrade to the version before the change, in this case Qlik Sense Enterprise November 2020, then upgrade to the version with the major change. Doing this will reduce the likelihood of encountering errors during the upgrade."

Refer to the 'Considerations about older versions' part in the Qlik help website.

Hi @Jack_Guo ,

I'd love to be able upgrade to November 2020 first, but it's not available on the downloads page!

Do you know where we can get it from? And other previous older versions?

Hello Everyone,

Try this (I am not sure it will work, but it might):

1. Take a full Qlik Sense Level Backup. Backing up a Qlik Sense site | Qlik Sense for administrators Help

2. Take a full OS Level Backup or Snapshot (in case it doesn't work, you will want to revert).

3. Uninstall Qlik Sense Fully

4. Install the desired version of Qlik Sense

5. Perform the Recovery from the Qlik Sense Level Backup. Restoring a Qlik Sense site | Qlik Sense for administrators Help

A couple of suggestions: It would be best to already be on the same version of Postgres as the destination version If possible. Try to upgrade Postgres first (test after) if necessary, then do the Qlik Sense Level Backup. It could make recovery more likely to be successful.

Try it and please let me know if it works. Feel free to downvote this if it doesn't. Good luck!
