Hi All,
To allow few Business Admins to create their own QVF files and to govern it by controlling the connections, I want to know the possibilities of the below
With a snapshot would be more helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Karthick V.
Karthick,
Yes, you can do it.
First, you need to create these Connections. They will be produced with default set of rules, most of them generic (applicable to all Connectors):
As you can see Security Admins and Content Admins have full ability to modify/add/delete these Connectors.
So, just make sure that your BA will not be set as these Admins....
I would recommend to create a Custom Property for your BAs. For example, this is how I've done it for my team:
So, for "Consumers" you can create a New Rule in Connections that will give then Read Only access:
And of course you can do it for all Connectors (like above) or you can do different approach for different Connectors (just update the property in Resource Filter line):
I hope it will help!
Regards,
Vladimir
This can easily be done using the security rules.

You are a MASTER Vlad !
This is exactly what i am looking for.
Thank you very much,
Karthick V.
Vlad,
Can you please share a screenshot on how can I assign my BA to 'Consumer' ?
Thanks,
Karthick V.
Sure, here you go:
1. Users--> Edit User (you can select multiple Users and do a bulk change):
Check the Roles first:
And then apply the Custom Property:
Please note that the UserType property was created by me, so you can have your own like "BA User" and "End User", for example.

Vlad
Hi Vlad,
Despite following all the steps mentioned above, the User is still able to see 'Create New Connection'.
Can you kindly suggest ?
Thanks,
Karthick V.
Thank you Martin !
Could you send your QMC screenshots? Some step is probably missing...
BTW, Did you apply all above to specific Connector(s), or to all of them?

Hi Vlad,
Though we could see 'Create New connection', Folder option is not enabled but others are visible. So we are partly happy.
Will we be able to control other connections also ? (ODBC, OLEDB,....)
Before Applying Rules:
After applying Rules ('Folder' option is disabled):
Thanks,
Karthick V.
