Error "Could not close the SourceDocument. Exception=The currently executing operation was aborted"

A QlikView distribution task fails with the error message:

Could not close the SourceDocument. Exception=The currently executing operation was aborted

This issue is mainly seen with larger QlikView Application (QVW) files. The reload is successful but the task fails when closing the document after saving it to disk. 

Occasionally the error is preceded by a warning message:

Warning Could not request the QlikView Engine process to quit.

Resolution:

This error is caused by the QVB.EXE process, which performs the task execution, requiring extensive time to close the reload task. The timeout can be altered in the QlikView Distribution service configuration. 

To give the process more time:

1. Stop the QlikView Distribution Service
2. Edit C:\Program Files\QlikView\Distribution Service\QVDistributionService.exe.config
3. Add on a new line <add key="SecondsToWaitBeforeQVBKill" value="60"/> 
4. Restart QlikView Distribution Service 

If the issue still occurs, consider altering the value in step 3 to higher than 60 seconds. Commonly 60 seconds is enough to resolve the issue. 

Note:

It may be necessary to reduce the number of log files stored or how long we wait for the document log before timing out.
