Qlik Cloud: An error occurred when generating the API Key

Generating an API key fails with:

An error occurred when generating the API Key. Please try again.

Resolution

Create a new custom role with Manage API Key permissions:

1. Open the Tenant Management Console (TMC)
2. Navigate to Administration > Manage Users (A) > Permissions (B)
3. Click Create new (C)
   
   
   
   
4. In the Create new role section, name the role and:
   1. Open Features and actions
   2. Switch Managed API keys to Allowed
   3. Click Confirm
      
      
      
      
5. Assign users to the new role as needed. See Assigning security roles and custom roles to groups for details. 

Cause

The user does not have a role with the required permission.

The "Developer" role has be deprecated as previously planned and announced.
