Issue Description

Some users reported the generic error "QlikView.Qvx.QvxLibrary.QvxPleaseSendReplyException: Failed to connect to server" when trying to use the Qlik REST connector for a specific REST API.

At the same time the REST API requests were working fine with some API testing tools like POSTMAN or via Chrome browser.

Resolution

If you got this kind of error then an important troubleshooting step would be to try to access the REST API via Internet Explorer. If the Internet Explorer responds with a message like this then the reason of the connector error is the same that the reason why  this URL cannot be opened in a Internet Explorer:

Something is blocking the Windows HTTP stack on your machine from opening that URL (Chrome uses other libraries so it does not rely on domain group security policies) .

Environment

  • All versions of Qlik Sense and QlikView on-premise environments
