Hello!
We have recently transitioned from Client Managed to Qlik Cloud, and I am a bit confused concerning the implementation of the Qlik Data Gateway - Direct Access.
We were able to successfully install the Gateway on a newly acquired dedicated server, as well as establish the Gateway in our New Cloud Tenant, connected to one of our Shared Spaces.
I found in the Data Gateway Documentation that "Data gateways can be associated with a single space only".
Am I able to establish an additional Gateway on the same machine as the other Gateway that is connected to one space, so that I am able to have a connection in another space? It seems silly to have to have a dedicated machine for each gateway that would be specific to a single space. What is the recommended best practice as far as setting up a cloud environment with different spaces specific to different lines of business or employee groups? Coming from Client Managed, the creation of Streams and access based on custom properties that all are able to use the same database connection seems much more usable and cost effective. What was the point of moving to the cloud if every aspect of the platform has been limited in some way and made more complicated? I appreciate the integration of automations and other functionalities, but i am beginning to question why these specific limitations would not have been something expressed when meeting with Qlik Reps to discuss the functionalities of the Cloud version and if it supports our needs.
Hi, I see gateways just as an access to a local network, users on Client Managed versions usually have that access by default, now the need the Data Gateway, and only user with access to the data gateway space may have access to the local resources where the specific gateway is installed.
Once they have access to the local network they can create connections for different databases on different spaces, the connection doesn't needs to be in the same space of the data gateway.
And having access to a Gateway doesn't means you have access to all databases, you still need the credentials to make the connections, as it was on Client Managed.
Not sure you answered the question: Can I create multiple gateways on a single gateway server?
For example, If I have a Linux Dev gateway server spun up in Google Cloud can I create multiple Data Movement Gateways in Qlik Talend Cloud on that one server where each DMG is connected to a different space?
Every Asset is tied to a space for security purpose, but this doesn´t limit your developers to store data in any space or create connections in any space.
You can attach gateway to space A and grant access to you developers to that space. after that, developers can create data connections on any shared or managed space using a gateway in another space.
