Hello,
When trying to extract data type CA - Orders Master (AUFK), the extract takes a very long time. Looking in SM51, it appears the process is taking a long time reading table STXL.
How can the performance be improved?
Alternatively, can this read be skipped?
Thank you,
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
When using data type CA - ORDERS MASTER (AUFK) to export orders, the Gold Client configuration includes a linkage to texts (data type CA - TEXT, header table is STXL).
If you are exporting a large set of orders, and if you don't require the STXL text output with your export, I would recommend using the Data Exclusions option when you schedule the job. Whether you are using Data Snap or Export Control to schedule the export job, you will see a menu option labeled Data Exclusions. In Data Snap, you'll see this after you enter the data type and press the execute button. In Export Control, you must click on the underlined Export ID number from the main Export Control screen to see the top menu that includes Data Exclusions.
Enter your export criteria in Data Snap (or choose the data types being exported in Export Control) and then select Data Exclusions. There should be an entry named "TEXT". You will need to select the checkbox for TEXT and press "Accept". You'll notice that there may be other Exclusion IDs where you can exclude attachments, change docs, and other data that sometimes is not required for your testing efforts in the target client.
If you do not have the entries configured as shown in the image above, these can be configured using the Maintain Data Exclusions area in Gold Client.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
Thank you,

Hello Ryan,
Thank you for the info.
I'm unfortunately using an old version, v8.5.1.
Would ticking the following be the equivalent action:
Thank you,
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
You could inactivate the linkage to CA - TEXT from data type CA - ORDERS MASTER (AUFK), but please keep in mind there will be "downstream" linkages to other data types (from CA - ORDERS MASTER (AUFK)) that will also link to CA - TEXT and query against the STXL table. Our Data Type Hierarchy Report would provide you that visibility. Using that report, I can see several other references to CA - TEXT that would remain active. You could also review from Gold Client export job logs to see which data type is actively exporting when the CA - TEXT data type linkage identifies records (check "records found" and timestamps).
After reviewing job logs, you should have a better idea of which data types require attention to inactivate the linkage(s) to CA - TEXT to improve export runtimes.
Thank you,
Ryan Esch
My data size is around 7.2 TB and I want to create a training sever and to copy some specific parts of transaction data on to it. Which one should I go for?
Hello,
Your question will likely require additional discussion and analysis to provide the best answer. I would recommend submitting a support case through our Qlik support portal so that we can engage in further discussions on this topic. Generally speaking, Qlik best practice is to create a new/empty client and copy over all master data from your source client into your new target/training client. Oftentimes we'll recommend copying specific Transactional Primary Data Types, defined within the Gold Client configuration, for data objects that reside at the top of the data hierarchy. Then you can perform testing in your training client to see if you're able to perform the necessary transactions required for your training purposes. To understand which Transactional data types will meet your requirements, we'll want to discuss further via a support case.
Thank you,
