Procedure for reverting to a previous version after upgrading in a cluster configuration

We have installed Qlik Replicate in a Windows cluster configuration and plan to upgrade.

I would like to know the procedure for reverting to a previous version after an upgrade in a cluster configuration.

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/replicate/May2024/Content/Replicate/Main/Installation/windows_setup.htm

The guide describes the procedure for reverting to the previous version as follows

====

To revert to a previous version:

  1. Back up the Replicate data directory to a location outside the product folder.
  2. Uninstall the product and then reinstall to the same directory.
  3. Once the installation is complete, stop all Replicate services.
  4. Overwrite the data directory with the data directory that you backed up earlier.
  5. Start all Replicate services.

====

I think the procedure in 3. is to do all the steps according to the following guide, is that correct?

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/replicate/May2024/Content/Replicate/Main/Clusters/set_up_replicate_win_s...

As a point of concern, after registering the master key and master user key, is it safe to replace them with the backup DATA directory in 4.

If there seems to be a problem with the assumed procedure, please let me know the correct procedure.

Best Regards,

I don't think so, but is is probably best to ask support or you professional services contact for advice, Personally I think you should just do the basic install of the older version, stop, and 'overwrite' the data directory.

With the overwrite any configuration you made for the HA option will be put back in place.

Note- when the guide writes 'overwrite' I would NOT actually move data files around.

Sure, make a backup, but once you have the just RENAME the data directory to something useful "data_original'

Then after the downgrade install, you rename the data directory it create to data_fresh_downgrade and rename that 'data_original' or whatever you choose to call it back to 'data'

Also, curious minds would like to know WHY you think it is best to downgrade?

Thanks,

Hein.
