I'm on the downstream side so take my words with a grain of salt 🙂

Qlik seems to have limited support for what (edit) kinds of ddl (/edit) are replicated - and the kinds it doesnt support were common for us, AppDev felt it made sense to control the whole thing.

Continuous Integration/Deployment - we generally do not 'break' builds on downstream tests breaking, tinkering manually with readers/tasks gets us to 100% (possibly) quicker than building qlik changes into the pipeline.
