ErrorFailed to connect to QlikView Server

We have received the error message: " Error Failed to connect to QlikView Server" two times in the past week. Each time I checked it, the Qlikview Server Service was down. (QVS) This caused all of our morning tasks to fail. Any ideas what would cause this problem? t can't be a permission problem becuase it runs normally on other days.

Thank you.

Sravan,

We upgraded to SR2 in December, andthe QVS service began to fail on a regular basis. We did have QlikView support check our installation and especially the logs but they didn't find anything obviously wrong. We applied a hot fix in January 2010 . We did start a scheduled reboot of the QlikView server every night at 3am and this seems to have really helped. Others on this board have also suggested this. We still have a few random QVS service failures, but they are now fewer. This is a very quirky problem. We may have several days in a row then several weeks with no failures. I hope this helps.

I just wanted to add that we did increase the size of our paging file since this seemed to be part of the problem. The memory would keep increasing until the server stopped. The nightly reboot seems to help reset the memory in the morning.

Just want to chime in and say that we're experiencing almost excactly the same issues on QV10 SR1. Our production management console just went down at midday for no reason, restarting the service brought it back up, but revealed the distribution service was also down. We currently do weekly restarts of the machine because there seems to be a memory leak and we get degraded performance over time, but it looks like maybe we're going to have to be more frequent? Does anyone have any more up to date information on this problem?

Are you running SQL on this server also?
