License not applicable for this product Qlikview upgrade 11.20

Hi All,

I am doing Qlikview  upgrade from 11.20 to November 2017 SR8. Post installation I am trying to apply existing license but getting below error. Our license is valid till June 2019.

Server failed to set license:  The license key not applicable for this product

Do we need to buy new license to use new versions?

The error message "The license key not applicable for this product" actually indicates that the key is not meant for a server. Which is odd, if you've used it before the upgrade.

In the LEF of the license, you should see a PRODUCT tag, which for the QlikView Server is 10

So this line is important for you:

PRODUCTLEVEL;10;;20xx-xx-xx

Where the x is meant to fill in for your date. That date needs to be beyond the date of the release of your product.

If this is not 10, you should have a different license available for you. If you need help with the license directly, you'll need to contact your sales rep or contact our Customer Support for assistance.

Above details mentioned in our LEF. That means we can use this license for November 2017 version right ?

2016-06-29 is not valid for November 2017.

The maintenance date in the LEF must be at or above the release date of the version you are trying to license.

If you have already renewed your license, you may be using an outdated LEF.  Check your license against our LEF server.

Should that still show you the 2016 date, please get in touch with your account team or contact support.qlik.com after logging in to the portal.

Hi,

This can be caused by a couple of things. One is that your Maintenance has expired or you need to update the license on the server.  In the below image it shows the Maintenance data. If it is expired and you know this date is wrong,  you can update it by clicking on the "Update License From Server" at the bottom.

If you have a publisher license you will need to do the same.
