Moving User Cal to Doc CAL

Can doc calcs in Qlikview be assigned through Active Directory group? How does Qlikview distinguish between User Cal and Doc Cal?

We have only 1 Qlikview report and want to use Active Directory group and Doc Cal license.

Hello!

Document CALs cannot be assigned based on groups. They have to be individual users (see How to assign Document CALs - 000050453 ).

As for the difference:

Named User CALs are licenses that get applied to a specific user, and which then give that user the license to open any document they have access to.

While Document CALs restrict the license to a specific document for a specific user

They are differentiated by being recorded differently in the QlikView Server's .pgo files.

A possible solution you could try to achieve what you are trying to do is to:

Define access to the QlikView document based on your AD group. So that means the actual permissions to the file. Not the license. This means that only people in this group can open the document and only people in this group can, therefore, get a Document CAL. Then all you need to do is set the Document CALs to be allowed to be dynamically assigned and you should be good to go.
