Run Server Reload from EDX WITHOUT Publisher

I hope someone can advise:

I'm running v9 SR6 QVS WITHOUT an additional Publisher licence. I'm looking to initiate server reloads via vb & an EDX / HTTP Post instead of the usual dependancy or time - is this possible without a Publisher licence?

All the posts I've seen (http://community.qlik.com/forums/p/18961/101940.aspx) seem to only work when Publisher (and it's Distribution Services) are available.
