phantom objects in qlik web view

Hi All,

I'm mamaging a QLik 10 Enterprise server with publisher.

We have about 1500 users, but only 50 concurrent users.

Newly I released some new application versions.

Since then some users (not so many) calling me that they see some objects double in access point.

According to screenshots they see some objects in former and new coordinates on page.

I though that I created some personal or server objects from the previous version.

But I cannot find any objects on server.

The object they see double exists only once on the original application tab in a container box.

I let them de-install plug-in, delete cache and re-install plug.in.

Nothing has been changed.

Do you have any idea how can I or the user himself delete such objects ?

thanks in advance

Hi,

yes it is possible to edit the shared file via qemc, but I have a lot objects stored on non-existing users due to domain change.

So it is not possible to open this document on server.

But I opened with qlik power tools QvSharedFileViewer.exe.

so I could edit the shared file as well.

I edited the file as below:

1-open shared file and deselect all objects/valuefields/bookmarks created by non-existent users

2-defrag the file

3-replace shared old shared file with the new one on server.

afterwards it was also possible to open the shared file on server.

As all objects were deleted, nobody has phantom objects on server anymore.

It seems that the application is also faster.

I found the reason why users see some objects many times.

Users have a lot bookmarks saved with layout for this application.

As they saved with layout the whole object info incuding location etc is stored  in file.qwv.shared file.

Newly I changed the layout and distributed it in my production system.

As soon as the user opens the bookmark, due to old info in .qwv.shared file the objects were double in web view.

I cannot edit the shared file in QEMC. It seems to be too big 😞

Does anybody have an idea how such problems can be by-passed ??

thanks

Hi.

You can delete the .shared file.

Or try and use the new QlikView Power Tools.

I am not sure if this is compatible with QV10, but you could try.

Hi Magnus,

Thanks for the antwort.

Using Power Tools I can only see the content, but you cannot edit the shared file.

Deleting of shared files solves the problem, but I would like to delete the objects but keep the bookmarks.

Hi again.

Yes, in Power Tools you can only view the objects, not manipulate them.

However in QEMC you can delete individual shared objects:

> QEMC > User Documents > [Document.qvw] > Shared Objects > [Shared Object]

Hope this helps.

Hi Guys,

If you want to delete various objects you must use Power Tools.

Use the Server Object Handler, this tool you can filter, select and delete any object you want.
