An existing Qlikview desktop installation has become obsolete, so an update to the latest version is forced.
The update fails every time with the error 1325 userabcde is not a valid short filename.
personal folders are redirected to a file server, the username is 9 characters (all lowercase ) long.
The original installation worked without a problem.
older posts regarding windows 7 installations lead to stale webpages.
Any suggestions?
Hello,
This appears to be an MSI installer issue, rather than a QlikView product issue. Have you also tried to completely uninstall and install the new version from scratch?
After googling around a little, and comparing it to what you mentioned, it is probably the fact that you have the folders redirected.
Here is a common fix I found:
This happens on file that is within a domain. From what I have seen so far this only happens with users that log in from a domain.
This solution is simple go to the following registry location in regedit:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders
Here you should change the personal
registry key:
\\<domain>\profiles$\<username>
%USERPROFILE%\<username>
Note that User Shell Folders
may exist in other locations as well, so you can search in the registry editor for User Shell Folders
and correct all values you find, depending on your personal installation.
