Hello QV Community,
I'm into my 2nd week of using QV and it's a very neat tool. Although, in trying to adjust my date ranges in a graph (or two) I'm thinking I must have accidentally 'hid' a few months of data. I'm pretty sure I had data for all 12 months of 2013 and 4 months of 2014.
A bit after my date range adjustments I noticed that I'm missing April 2013 and the first 3 months of this year altogether and there is most definitely data for these months. Unfortunately (in a way) I've clicked 'save' and don't know if this is recoverable?
I tried reloading my data but nothing. My gut feeling is that if these months did indeed exist (almost 100% sure they did) then I must find a way to 'unhide' or re-expose these graphs fully to reclaim my data. I hope this is possible - I can't see how it wouldn't be and I'm hoping it's an easy fix. Any assistance is much appreciated. Thank you.
Fernando,
There are few alternatives you can try.
Goto "properties" by doing a right click and check if you have "Suppressed NULL Values". My first approach will be to make sure that the data is in the application and is properly associated. If you are able to see other values on the same field then check the table in which the data resides. you can do it by creating a table object for that field and also add the data you are viewing in your chart.
Next you can create a List box to look at all the values in date field. If you see your months in there then your calculated expression might be giving "NULL" values for those months.
If you still don't see your month in the List box itself then check the script to see if there is a data filter applied on the data pull.
Let me know if that helps.
Hello Abhinav,
Thank you for your ideas. I double checked for suppressed values and we were ok there as there is definitely data there. The boxes were indeed checked but they were also checked when the data was there before (if it was indeed there).
The data is there (even I cannot see it right now). I am pretty sure that I accidentally and inadvertantly 'hid' it. Your suggestions gave me the idea to create a new QV workbook, object and then I reloaded the data and there it all was. My suspicion is confirmed, I must have accidentally hid/collapsed the data. There is nothing in the script causing this. The only thing that I'm almost 100% sure is that when clicking to select the date range that I wanted in a graph (I clicked and tried to grab 2 or 3 times since I was not grabbing the exact date range that I wanted) I somehow collapsed/hid those months. Is there a way to 'undo' that or to 'unhide' those months? Any other helpful suggestions are much appreciated.
Thank you.
I figured it out Abhinav, I just had to click 'clear' up in my tool bar.
