		Hi,
I'd just like to know what would possibly cause all variable definitions to disappear out of a QlikView application while the variable names still exist. We've just had such an instance happen. From what i understand opening a document Without Data doesn't clear variable data? Would this happen when saving a document and there is a sharing violation? Maybe an incomplete copy to the Live directory?
Has anyone else had experience with this issue?
QV Desktop Version is 12.10.20600.0 SR8
QV Server Version is 12.20.20400.0 SR3
Thanks in advance..

Our experience has been that saving a qvw without data loses the variable values.
One "best practice" is to define all variables in script.
Another is to always have backups.

Do you have a -prj directory for this qvw?

		Hi,
I've just tested this and after loading a document without data, saving it, re-opening it.. The variables are still defined.
We did have a backup of the file which we had to fall back on.. I just need to find out why this happened so that maybe it can be prevented in the future.
Thanks,

		No. You don't want one
I was asking because if you had a -prj directory, that could explain the missing variable values. Var values are not saved in prj. So when a qvw is rebuilt from prj values can be lost.
