Can I make an entire chart ignore selections? (without detaching it)

Is that possible?

I want the chart to show certain rows depending on if one dimension equals a variable that changes with the current selections. (I have a hierarchy and I want to show the children of the parent selected while normally only the parent would be shown) I have tried a bunch of workarounds with no success, including set analysis, script work, and detaching (which freezes the chart entirely, not what I want)

Without an example file it's difficult to say exactly but I'd say Set Analysis is the right solution.

SA can be used in 2 ways in this situation (as you may already know): to include all selections bar the ones you specify or vice versa to exclude all selections apart from the ones you specify.

It may also be worth looking at using 'total' in your expressions as this too can be used when wanting objects to ignore selections.

If that doesn't help try posting an example.

All the best
