I've learned the trick of control+shift to capture the areas (graph, legend) in a graph and resize and move them. But what I also want to do is change the way the legend is arranged within its area. The default is for each item in the legend to be displayed in vertical ordered list. But I wish to display the items so they are listed side-by-side and can occupy a single holizontal line at top of graph. I've attached a visual of what I'm wishing to accomplish.
Hi,
so having CTRL+SHIFT pressed you can move the legend around and also if you make the legend area smaller/ shorter it should rearrange the items to horizontal view. However, it does not always works form me. You can actually get it messed up pretty badly and then resetting the graph layout helps (most times).
good luck with this,
Artur
Hi,
I tried making the legend area smaller, shorter and wider to try and "encourage" it to dispaly as one horizontal line, but the items in the legend disapeared and insteak I had a drop-down arrow that let me scroll through the legend items which remained in their horizontal top-bottom alignment. very frustrating.
Not for all types of chart but verified in BAR chart that you can hold CTRL+SHIFT and then Drag the red border section Legend in your chart and can place it horizontally. Same process in PIE chart does not work.
hehe... i know the pain. Try going to Chart Properties. General tab and click Reset user Sizing and Reset User Docking.
And off you go again.
Denise,
try to move the legend to the bottom of your graph in a way that it automatically expands to the whole width of the graph. Then it goes from vertical to horizontal. It's beyond me why such a simple thing is made so tricky in Qlikview.
