Deployment of Dashboards in the Intranet

Hi
I have developed few dashboards using Qlikview, and now need to be deployed in the intranet.

The conditions for deployment are;

1. Only a restricted number of people should access the dashboards as we have limited number of licenses

2. Some of these users only need a snapshot(static report) rather than to access the dashbaords dynamically

3. dashboards need to be refreshed real time

Based on those requirements appreciate very much if you could give me some advise on how best we should deploy on the organisation intranet, since we are going to do this for the first time and new to QV.

Thanks very much for your help.

Hi,

1. Only a restricted number of people should access the dashboards as we have limited number of licenses

Do you have publisher with you, If yes this will be handeled by publisher by default.

If not you have to apply security via NTFS file system in case you use NTLM as your Authorization mechanism.

You have to go to Qlikview file Right click --> properties --> Security --> Remove group everyone and add respective peoples here whoom you would like to give access.

If you are using DMS security then go with Jagan solution.

2. Some of these users only need a snapshot(static report) rather than to access the dashbaords dynamically

For this I think sharing session with user is effective and robust way, one session will last for 15 minutes, this dosen't requires license.

Secondly you can schedule reports. You can go with Nprinting for the same.

Thirdly you can use screenshot extension attached to this mail.

Last but not least you can even go with macros.

3. dashboards need to be refreshed real time

Weather you have publisher or not schedule your application at the required intervals can be done with server too.

Second option could be looking at direct discovery.

Hope it helps

Hey,

Here is some thoughts.

1A. It depends on what type of licenses you have. If Named Licneses are there, 1 license is dedicated for only one person at a time. You may or may not publish the doucments to Access Point. Stil these users can view the documents if you share the qvw file.

if Session license is there you can have any number of authenticated users. However only N number of users can access at a time from Access Point. where N is your session license count.

2. Using Macros you can create a PDF report of the snapshots from the dashbaord and send it to users via email.

How to create PDF through Macro in Qlikview 11

3. what is the margin time you expecting. You may schedule your document to run by 5 mins. That will suffice. If you want immediate reload of data when db update done, you may create a trigger using batch file .

Hope this helps.

Hi,

The conditions for deployment are;

1. Only a restricted number of people should access the dashboards as we have limited number of licenses -

You can give access to the required people in Qlikview server, so that only restricted people can see you can do this by

Documents -> User Documents -> Select Dashboard -> Authorization -> User Type -> Named User and specify the user names.

2. Some of these users only need a snapshot(static report) rather than to access the dashbaords dynamically

If users just wan the snapshot then send the PDF report through email by using macros.

Check this link for help

Useful Qlikview Macros

3. dashboards need to be refreshed real time

If you have publisher then reload the Dashboards at required intervals.

Hope this helps you.

Hi De Silva,

Access Point is the web portal where our end users view/analyze our Qlikview dashbaords.

Upon completion of qlikview dashboard development,we publish the dashboards to Access Point  using qlikview publisher  by creating tasks in QEMC.

Hope this helps.

Please close the thread if you got the answer.

Hi,

Access point is a portal where end users access the Qlikview Dashboards.

Go through the Qlikview architecture then you will get better idea of all this terms.  Check the URL below
