Development & CALs

Hi to all,

One of my customers (I'm a dev, not a commercial 🙂 ) bought a Small Server Edition License, with 5 CALs.

With these CALs, he wants to make that this 5 users can create, modify (included scripts), etc... qvw.

I thought that he could only access to the server access point with these CALs, not to use desktop version... but my colleague said that is possible to use full function of desktop edition.

Can someone help me to understand?

Thank you 🙂

Simon.

Yes, this is correct. Named CALs are full user licences and you should allow license lease from the server (Management Console->System->QV server->Licences->Allow license lease, also check allow dynamic CAL assignment).

Then your users have to open from installed Desktop QV program an application in server (Open in server from the strat page of the desktop program). Then you will see on start page tab that they had borrowed a license. After that they can work on any application from the desktop and modify the script and layout

Hi simone,

Which Type of CALS you bought it means Named CALS or Doc Cals.

If you buy Doc CALs It is not Possible to Modify Script.

At least u buy one named cals it is possible.

through Access point it is not possible to modify script changes.

otherwise if u installed desktop version in local desktop and lease the license, start the development activity in that local machine.

i think you cleared

any doubts reply me

Thanks Ananth,

invoice says "Application: QlikView Named Cal 11 Quantity: 5"

So they are Named, and this authorize me to assign a CAL to an user that in this way can modify and create new QV files, script included.

Correct?

Hi Simon

Correct: Having a named cal, each user can 'lease a licence' within the desktop client and hence he/she can develop QV apps (script, UI, etc.).
