Different values in an original excel file and in qvd - why?

Hello,

I have the following problem:

in excel file i have a column named gpn.

GPN is a calculated column, but in excel it appears as a result of calculation.

So in this column i have value 5.6 for some row. Why in qvd this value turns to be different?

In qvd this value turns to be 4.75....

Thanks a lot!

Hi.

How do you compare the values from Excel and from qvd ?

You don't have the rowid or something similar. How can you be sure that you compare the right rows ?

Hi,

I compare totals from column 57 as revenue net, 58 as gpn between excel and qvw.

Do you manage with this?

Please check your values,

Are some like 9.5000000000000005E-5, these values maybe are getting differently converted by Excel and QV.

Is it possible to format these numbers?

Hi,

I suggest if possible please update your csv file specially 57 column and change is type to number upto 2 or 3 decimal place value then reload it with qvw application and then you see the changes in sum.

The precision of the numbers in the csv file seems to be higher than excel can handle. So if open the csv file in a text editor and compare the value with qlikview you'll see the same numbers. But afaict excel just displays less decimals. It's a display problem only. The data in the csv is the same as in qlikview as far as I can tell.
