Hi All...
I'm looking to document my QlikView data warehouse structure.
Can anyone suggest any good (free) software for doing this?
Thanks
Paul
I once did an simple excel with a list of fields and tables and linked those lists with the system fields, but with QlikView 10 coming out with a metadata feature, it might be worth waiting a little to use this feature. In a presentation you could see that the metadata appeared in a pop-up in the table viewer window, though I don't know what options there are for printing that information. Also I don't think it is automatic.
I suppose it's about time I start playing more with QlikView 10, but I'm waiting for the official release and although I see QV 10 on the main page, I still don't see it in the normal download page.
Regards.
Paul,
What are you specifically looking to document? The sources and description of the data found in the QV Data model? And where and how the data is used? Metadata?
Regards.
Thanks for the response Karl.
I am trying to acheive a look similar to the table viewer in QlikView with the ability to add information re the source of the field e.g. what database / field I am exporting from.
This is part of a requirement of documenting our QlikView system from my Director.
Everything I have seen so far works in tangent with MS SQL server (or similar) with some costing too much for what I am trying to achieve.
I was hoping just to get a simple program where I could produce this type of graphical display.
Hope this helps in trying to understand what I am trying to do...
Regards

Thanks Karl
I had started to document using a spreadsheet so will continue down that path for now.
Hopefully version 10 will help me solve this issue...
Thanks for your help.

Any progress on this? Did you manage your requirement with QV 10?
