Encountered a sharing violation while accessing a QV file ????
Anybody knows how could this be possible ?
This is a qv file allocated in the folder of the qlikview server.
As you can see, this is an alert that is prompted when I try to save the document. And this is why it can't be saved on a daily basis (as it was planned in the qlikview server configuration).
What I've been trying to solve the issue, is to copy the file in another folder. When I save the document, it works fine, and I have the same permissions as the other folder.
Any ideas about how this problem could be solved ???
Many thanks in advance!!!

hi Marcel,
two ideas to follow up:
1. is there a hanging qv.exe process tying up your original file. use Task manager to get rid of any of these.
2. If you are on qv 8.5 or above Qlikview generates a SHARED fiel which will have the name of your qlikview doc in upper case followed by the extension .QVW. Windows lists this as a "shared file". Sometimes this can get corrupted and casue the problem you are seeing. Remove the file - a new one will be created the next time a user access the qvw document from their browser.
be aware this will remove any user objects if your users are using collaboration.
hope this helps.

Thanks Pat, that was it. The costumer had opened the qv file in the source path (not server path).
Thank you very much.

Hi!
We have a similar problem. After reload, when we try to save the qvw-document we get "Encountered a sharing violation while accessing [filepath]". We have tried to schedule the reload via a batch-file to make the macros work.
Any idea of where we can find the .SHARED-file? I have searched "everywhere" but haven't been able to locate it.
No qv.exe is running, and the Qlikview Services has been restarted so this is our last hope

Eventually what helped me is to run a command line: taskkill /im qv.exe /F

Hi Philip, we've got same problem after trying to execute with batch file. Have you ever found the solution back then?

I had the same issue and none of the above worked. What worked was going to Computer Management - Shared Folders - Open Files. Here I found that the file I got the error on, was in use. Right-clicking on it, gives the opportunity to close it. Problem solved.
Funny thing was that it was myself who was the user who used the file. I had accessed the file through NPrinting from an other server and it or me had probably not signed off and closed down properly.

For me it was the same problem with the same solution. Open files on the server.
Great
