Encountered a sharing violation while accessing qvw file

Hi all..

We update our qvd tables / reports using batch files on our QlikView server.

An example of the command that we use is as follws...

"QV.exe" /r C:\QlikViewFiles\Timbmet_Live\Reports\03E.qvw

Occassionally (and it is becoming more frequent), we receive an error message stating...

"Encountered a sharing vilolation while accessing C:\QlikViewFiles\Timbmet_Live\Reports\03E.qvw"

We are then prompted to save the file.

Our users access our reports via a terminal server environment (different server from our QlikView server) using the IE Plugin.

Therefore the only access to the report at the time of it updating could be from the IE plugin - all our development work is carried out on my local PC.

I am a bit stumped by this as I know that other reports have been open via the IE Plugin whilst an update has taken place and have not caused this.

Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Regards

Paul

Unfortunately I haven't...

Spoke with QlikView support who suggested installing some performance monitoring software (see link below) as they felt that a process was locking the file...

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645

Have installed the software but has so far been unable to pinpoint the issue.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

check this post:

It worked for me.

I, too, encountered this error recently and needed to take a different step to resolve the issue.  I had to cycle (stop and restart) the QVS services to release the lock.  Deleting the shared file and ending the qv process did not work for me

Thanks,

Roy

Eventually what helped me is to run a command line: taskkill /im qv.exe /F

I had the same issue with the personal edition.

Used the Task Manager to end QV process.
