Hi,

I will attempt to answer this question without any documents.

Assuming you know a bit of QV, the data that is loaded into QV is in the default state.

You have created all the user inferences like Charts, texts, selctions on this default state.

To create a completely new dashboard which is independant of the above selections you can used alternate states.

Assuming you now know where to create them I will cite an example that I have implemented.

Volumes of a type of data can be in the original state.

I created 2 other states (s1 and s2) and showed filters for each state on the left and right side of the sheet. A common graph had volumes based on the s1 and s2 which showed comaprison.

Hope this helps.

In my particular case, I use Alternate states to separate and create independence in a data model.

In the same dashboard you can manage different filter scenarios and apply those filters scenarios (Alternate States) to any objects.

Hope it helps
