How can i crosstable this?

I have this:

5 dimensions

3 dimensions that are the starting point of the pivot

1 expression

Normally i would do a CROSSTABLE with 5. But now i have 3 dimensions that needed a CROSSTABLE. Is this possible? Do i need to CROSSTABLE this 3 times and then JOIN?

Click and drag the column you want to move in you pivot table. Move it to the right, move it all the way up. You have one. Move the next up and place above the first one if you want it above or below otherwise. Then do the same for the 3rd one.

Good luck.

Hi

Not sure what you are asking.

CROSSTABLE is used to "unpivot" a source data pivot table during load.

Pivoting in QV is done at the front end after loading (in which case the previous post explains what you need to do).

Your right .. pivot is not correct. I changed to topic to crosstable.

perhaps to should create something to concatenate the 3 dimensions?

so in my excel i have:

5 dimensions on the left

3 dimensions on top

1 value in the middle

and i want to read this as a flat table.

I was afraid you migh say that. The simplest solution to your problem is to get the file format changed. Of course that may not be possibe, but then it gets a lot more complex. What you will need to do is read the left and top dimension values (one at a time using data transformations) and have your script construct one or two hierarchies from these values. Then perform a normal CROSSTABLE load on the inner table, making sure that there are associations between the detail table and the hierarchies.

I suggest that you post a representative sample of the file if you would like someone to give you more specific assistance.
