Hi, I have a question how In Memory works in Qlikview, tried to understand by blogs but nothing helped me. I have create one dashboard in SAP BO Web Intelligence, source is the oracle database. Whenever I refresh the dashboard I get the updated date which is pulling from the database over the server. I did the same kind of dashboard in Qlikview. But I will not get the updated records as I didn't scheduled the qvw file. But my question is How we can call it as a In Memory Application? I am not sure how In Memory technology works?? can any one guide me how it works?? Thanks,
See this blog post and this article.
Let’s take one example, I have created one QVW file locally (with simple data from excel as a data source) and published to the server with all folder structure. Now my questions are: 1) Once I open the qvw file from the Qlikview Access point, it fetches the data from the hard disk and placed it on memory (Server RAM) and which will not connect the source file (Excel) as I assuming qvw file stores the data. Correct me if I am wrong? Is that the reason called In Memory Technology? 2) Suppose the dashboard size is 10GB, but if my system RAM size is 2GB so how it impact to pull the data. Does my RAM usage will be there while access the dashboard from the Qlikview Access or it uses the Server RAM?? 3) What would be the Server RAM size?? 4)Does QVD’s work as same as QVW? Thanks,
Hi,
Answer to Q2
Typically qlikview compress the the on disk data to 10% of its original size when it is loaded in qlikview.
