How to give access permission to qvw file under public server

Hello there,

I have to admit that I'm truly confused, I am trying to post ( distribute ) my qvw file in our  server say

http://locationipaddress

I am new to qlikview and was told to put finished qvw file under Data_Models folder, but how can I publish the qvw file ?

Under my management console > documents > source documents > :

  • root\Data_Models
  • root\Application\Public
  • root\Application\Private

It seems to me that all my qvw files that I am able to view in http://locationipaddress  are coming from root\Application\Public, but I could not find a way to add distribution list under this public folder. However I noticed that whatever reports listed under "Data_Models" , which allow me to edit distribution list ,  are also have access permission with reports listed under "Public" folder , so I simply copy the myReport.qvw file from root\Data_Models to root\Application\Public

So here is what root\Data_Models\myReport.qvw  detail description :

Report

Reload the whole document and distribute it.
To the following recipients:

  • company\myName
  • company\mrA
  • company\mrB

The task has the following triggers:

  • At 6:30 AM every 1 day

Once I go to http://locationipaddress I can see myReport.qvw there, so I know I'm at least on the right path. But for some odd reason that I could not open the file. There is an error below in red.  Asking to contact system administration , which unfortunately,  I am system administration ( without training ) .... so any help would appreciated.

Access denied! The server (QVS) has no USER CAL for your account. Please contact your system administration!

I 'm trying to explain this as best as I can, sorry it's a bit long.

In your QMC, QlikView Management Console :

  • System
  • Licences
  • QlikView Server
  • Assigned CAL's

From there assign your AD User a CAL.

Thanks Bill, When I check in my server by following the same steps, but our server is all manual input of user names. If I want add one more user along with password what is the syntax for that. Thanks,

Hi.

There is a good server reference manual. Try to find and read it.

It's much more efficient than just try and error and waiting for response here.

Especially that you are the server admin.

Shortly:

The QV server has list of folders that is published in AP.

To see the document the user should have the Windows security access to that folder.

To be able to open the document the CAL should be assigned to the user (per document or per name).
