Ideas about how to search text in word and pdf docs

I want to write a QV app to be my knowledge base search tool. To do that I need to be able to search for a given text in a list of pdf and word documents. Do you guys have ideas about how can I do that?

It's better to use Oracle Text for this. Take a look at these URLs:

Yes. It's pretty robust 'add-on' for Oracle. You can build intellectual system by this tool. Don't hesitate to ask, I've spent a bunch of time jumping around this.

Do I need to setup an Oracle database for this or can I use anyother database?

You have to setup an Oracle database. I'm not sure about other DBs. Maybe they have their own solution for text indexing.
