I was wondering if there is a limit to the number of alerts that can be set up in one qvw document?

I don't think we have limit for the number of alerts that can be set on the qvw document, are you facing any problem.

I thing you can send as many alert you want

for example you have to send sales notification for thousand department.

you could create for them.

some time alerts are conditional they runs only on particular conditions if true.

so it may be the case you have more than 100  alerts but only few of them get triggered due to condition imposed
