Line chart data point limitation

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a limitation with either number of data points, or labels on line charts in QV 8.5 ?

I have a graph which plots a data point hourly per day. The data is not aggregated so using either only or max etc makes no difference.

However, when displaying the graph it will only show me 9 days of days (108points ).

I assume I am doing something basic wrong ?

Cheers Keith

Hi,

The limitation is the width of the display. If you have a wider display, you will see more points.

In the Presentation tab, set a Max Visible number (e.g. 80) and turn on the Show X-Axis Scrollbar option.

Thanks Stephen, worked a treat.

Do Qliktech engineers watch the posts ? I might raise this via our account manager otherwise ...

Hi,

I don't know if engineers watch the posts. However, I wouldn't necessarily call this a bug - it is probably FAD.

If you want it to compress more to show more of your time sequence, you might consider using a drill-down dimension as being a better course of action. Users can see the change over a number of days and then drill down to a lower level. Trying to show too many data points at once may actually lose some of the information that you are trying to impart.

Stephen
