Link to pdf on other server

Hi all,

I would like to create a link to a PDF on an other server then our Qlikview-server.

In my developer tool, the link is working.

But If I try it on my access-point it will not werk.

I've set the representation to  "Link"

and this is the definition (xxx.x.xx.xxx is the ip-adress.)

avg( Factuurnummer)  &  '<URL>\\xxx.x.xx.xxx\data\' & Column(3) & '.PDF'

Why is this not working in my accesspoint?

IMHO the last URI's you mentioned are unusable because the http://xxx.x.xx.xxx tries to find a web server and not a file server, and the second one http://file\\xxx.x... tries to do the same but this time with an invalid path.

The effect you are seeing (works if I manually type in the URL, doesn't work if the AccessPoint document proposes an identical URL) may have something to do with browser measures agains Cross-site scripting. At least it used to be like that with IE some time ago. The first - manually entered - URL is delivered by you and trusted by your web browser. The second URL is delivered by an external web site (meaning: not originating on your own PC) and is by definition untrusted by your browser, especially when used to access files across the file system. This is a standard security mechanism of modern browsers. I'm not sure that you could even switch it off somewhere.

Note that this mechanism also protects you all the time from various kinds of infections and malware.

The best thing you can do is to host documents that should be accessible to Qlikkers on a separate web server (the http://servername/documentname URLs will then suddendly start to work) or host them in a service like SharePoint or another docucent management system. The latter offer a standard way of referencing documents through specially formatted URLs.
