Make hybrid expression or dimension on either list box or chart

Im trying to find a way to create either an expression or a calculated dimension where and have it respresented as text & image, meaning, i wanna have a string of text and concatenate it with an image. I have been experimenting using expression and calculated dimension but the problem is that I only have two ways of presenting the information, text or image.
I think it won't be possible in this way. But maybe it's an alternatively to just use two expression beside each other or maybe with some/full overlapping (with the appropriate layout adjustments).
Depending on your kind of image it might be possible to replace it with ascii chars, for example if you want to show something like up/down arrows or similar.
I had already tried your suggestion of using two expressions, but visually, for the end user, it's not what they're looking for. As for the ascii symbols, I wouldn't be able to use them, as the images I'm using are custom made and there are no substitutes that look similar.
