Qlikview run via Task Scheduler on Windows 2012 R2

Hi all,

I sometimes get an issue on my Windows 2012 R2 where QV reloads via batch file+task scheduler hang for no reason. I have 1 task which executes every hour, and when I logged into the console today morning, I see on task manager 12 instances of Qlikview.exe; it means the task was executed 12 times in the past 12 hours but all hanging and never closing. After this, I try opening Qlikview desktop and this is what happens:

1. Qlikview desktop doesn't open at all.

2. I restart the server, and after opening Qlikview desktop, it prompts me to choose a language, as if it just got installed.

Why is there an issue with the .exe when there are no issues with the qvws themselves?

Have you checked the document log to see if that gives a cause for the reload to hang?

Hi,

You can use QlikView Scheduler instead of windows.

Nevertheless sharing log files could help analyze the issue further.

No I haven't, but the reload itself does not have any error. From experience I can tell the qvw reload itself has no errors, because sometimes it can run 24 hours a day for 7 days straight. The issue is also not qvw specific - ALL my tasks hang at the same time, and the issue with Qlikview Desktop not opening is the common factor here. It seems the executable itself is failing to even open, and when you restart the server, Qlikview behaves as if it just got installed by asking you to select a language. And then after that, the tasks are running fine again.

Thanks - I don't own the QV server, it's owned by another team. I'm trying to offload reloads from the QV server onto this server via batch files.

HI,

In this case could you try to share logs?

What is the current version of Qlik you use?

May be try by upgrading to latest version helps hers.

I would recommend that you always enable the log file, it will show you what has actually happened when the load runs from the scheduler which may or may not be the same as when you run the load manually.

I will turn on logs from now on. I think it's the latest QV version: 11.20.12852.0 SR11 64-bit Edition (x64)
