Lately we introduced Section access[SA] to our dashboard and we are facing some reload issues.
I'm using like 4 section access tables related to 3 different sections in my dashboard. The first table has info(ACCESS, NTNAME, FIRSTNAME ) of all the users that have access to dashboard and remaining 3 tables have info(ACCESS, NTNAME, MARKET, ETC) related to access settings that are determined for 3 sections of dashboards.
I have first introduced SA to section-1 and it worked fine.... no problems with access/ data/ reload. After adding SA to other 2 sections, reload is not working fine. Its comming up with following error.
The task "test dashboard" failed. Part of the log file follows:
12/5/2011 3:22:27 PM Error Document open call failed. The document
might require username and password.
12/5/2011 3:22:27 PM Error The document failed to open. Bad
Username and password is the most likely cause of this problem.
12/5/2011 3:22:27 PM Error Document could not be opened
12/5/2011 3:22:27 PM Error Reload failed because the document could
not be opened successfully. DocumentState=CouldNotOpenDocument
12/5/2011 3:22:27 PM Error Reload failed. Distribution skipped.
12/5/2011 3:22:27 PM Error The task "test dashboard" failed.
ErrorCount=5
has anyone dealt with similar issue?
You need to configure a user in QEMC-System Tab
Setup/Distribution Services/Advanced/Section Access
Thanks for your prompt reply...
Can you please elobrate on how to configure?
I have 4 admins for QV server, which one should be used ?
Should I add the same id in "reload" part while creating Realod trigger job?
use a user that's already configured in your section access doc with admin priviliges.
Best thing to do is add the service account that QV distribution service is running as an administrator in section access.
Hi Krishna,
U need to add ur Qvservices name as a admin in your section access.
Hi Krishna,
This is true.
I was having a lot of problems reloading applications through the QMC with section access.
My fix was the Qlikview service account must be added as an admin to the SECTION ACCESS part of the script. DO NOT add it to the SECTION APPLICATION part of the script, though. If you do, it will fail when reloaded through the QMC.
Ethan you just fixed an issue I have been struggling to fix with Qliktech support for a month. I can't thank you enough! My service account was in my section application as * and this caused me to not be able to reload or distribute with publisher.
You're welcome. It took me nearly 2 months to get Qliktech to get me on the phone with someone from expert services and we figured it out.
This really should be documented somewhere. Seems like a common problem because many people using section access are also distributing it through publisher.
But anyways, glad I could help.
