Replace Values

The data I use when imported has 5 values for the field Item.  Even though it is easy to know the meaning of the values

which are 1,2, chk-001 and such, I would prefer to replace them with more meaningful descriptions.  How can I accomplish this?

For example

If item = 1 then replace with "Indicators"
