Good morning everyone,
I have this issue with every time that I generate a report, it defaults to a black and white color scheme, wherein it changes colors to different cross-hatching schemes. I haven't noticed any option at all to change this, should I be looking in the scripting?
Additionally i've looked up different posts about PDF writing/printing and haven't noticed one that links the report generator to it. Is this also something in the script editor I need to preset?
Background, i've been self teaching myself how to use this program to evaluate it for my department, with no prior programming experience.
Thank you for any assistance on this,
Chris
Hi Chris,
from QV internal help:
In the Chart Colors group, you may specify an override setting for all output from charts. You can select one of three alternative settings:
Use Chart Settings | The intrinsic chart settings regarding color or b/w will always be used. |
Force Color | All bitmap charts will be printed in color, irrespective of their Colors settings in the document. |
Force Replace Colors with Patterns |
Chart Properties: Colors
Use Patterns instead of Colors | When printing On screen |
these are the only ways to control the printing of charts in color

Awesome, that did the trick.
Thanks!
For me it did part of the trick.
When I'm developing in QlikView and open my report I can see the preview in color, and I can also print to a file in color.
But when I go to the accesspoint (via AJAX ZF) and open the same application, I see the report in B/W.
Anyone knows what to do?
Thanks!
Hi,
I get the same thing.
I was hoping I could change the default for each object. In the object properties, color tab, there is an option "Use patterns instead of colors > When priniting". This is checked, but unfortunately greyed out, so I can't change it?
Thanks
If you set the user preferences > Printing > Chart colors to 'Use chart settings', you can then change the properties on each object. Can now print ajax reports in color.
Thanks
Hi all,
I still get this issue, even though 'force colour' is checked.
I print a report from QV developer - all colour. I convert to PDF and print - all colour.
I setup QV publisher on the server to generate a pdf and send via email, go to print it and its black and white cross hatching - but only on bar charts! If i change the bar chart to a line chart it will print in colour.
All other objects are colour??!! Is there some setting on the publisher config i dont know about??
Thanks for your time.
Same propblem here
I have QV 10.00.8935.7
Sending to printer in colour prints okay
If I print to PDF, the print preview looks okay, but when converted to PDF bar charts are black and white but the rest of the PDF is colour.
I've tried different PDF drivers eg cutePDF , PDF-exchange but with same result
I've also tried 'force colour'
driving me nuts
any help appreciated

did anyone solve this issue?
printer in local client gives colors, but printing using publisher .. no colors on the charts (well charts are all grey) ..
in a way it make sense because the above solution is a user preference .. and not a document preference
EDIT : Solved!
User preference --> Printing Settings --> Check Chart Settings
Chart Object --> Colors --> Uncheck '....When Printing'
This does not explain why some of the pdf is color and some not in colour
It appears that the 3D graph look will not convert to colour in pdf format whereas if you change the format of the chart to a simple look then when you convert it to a pdf it is in color
I will be looking into it further but if anyone does not have an issue with this I would be interested in details of the settings and PDF converter used
