Hi,

Deepak ask your DB2 admin to install drivers for you.

There is default drivers available  OLEDB or ODBC for DB2 by IBM

You must install a driver. There are several available such as:

DB2 Connect from IBM

Data Direct

Star SQL

Hi Deepak,

Alternate option is to raise a request to DB team to extract all data in to CSV files and hand it to you.

This will be applicable only if you are getting rid of mainframe. Otherwise as Rob has suggested, yes there are drivers.

Not applicable

Rob,

I thought ODBC/OLEDB drivers are good to extract data from DB2. Am I wrong?

Thanks

I don't know if there is an OLEDB driver for mainframe (Z/os) available, but there are ODBC drivers such as I listed in my previous response. In any case, my experience is that you have to install the driver -- whatever vendor you chose.

As Ashfaq has suggested, you probably want to talk first to your DB2 Sysprog. The DB2 drivers are licensed (priced) software and your organization may already own the required software. If you don't already own a zos DB2 driver, Star SQL is a very reasonably priced driver in my experience.

Db2 client for windows Db2 linux client Db2 Connect

Not to knock the other vendors, there are a number offerings that all have their own strengths. It may be that your zos DB2 license already entitles you to use the IBM driver. Check with your DB2 Sysprog.
