Role of designer?

Hi friends,

I would like to know the role of designer and what exactly  he was trying to do?

As if i know,developer has involving to layout presentation by writing scripts according business intelligence plan and

administrator has involving to providing security access,scheduling reload activity and publishing files from source documents to user documents in server.

Suggest us whether my understanding is correct or not?

Please help me in this if any one knows.

In general terms a designer is somebody who understands all aspects of the User Inreface (UI).

They understand what works in the delivery of information to the end user. This covers aspects from overall system design from a look and feel perspective, and how to navigate between pages and other types of analysis.

They will make the system intuitive to the end-user (which is not always easy when dealing with complex systems) and ensure that the correct chart type or other object is best used for the type of analysis required.

This seems a simple task but is often more difficult than expected. Anybody can build a system that is difficult to comprehend, but making it intuitive is hard.

An important aspect of BI is making sense of the data.
Developer extracts the data and transforms amd loads it.

The role of a designer is to design visualizations in terms of charts,graphs and tables
so that this data is easy to understand.
Users don't see the underlying scripts but they see the output in terms of visualization
so it is the role of the designer to design the layout screens which helps users in understanding the data.
It also involves setting the resolution of the screen.Dashboards can be seen on laptop,Ipad etc.

Designer who has involving design visualizations in terms of charts,graphs and tables this is what you told earlier.

But developer has also involving for the same tasks.

(creating chats,dash boards,tables,data modeling by writing scripts and loading files)

But here both are doing same work.So may i call designer who are performing end user activities?

Still I'm little bit confusing in his role. Request to.explain in detail.

Importantly there is no reason why you may not have the same person fulfilling both roles. They do not have to be different and many of the designer roles can be taken on by the developer. If you have a relatively small organisation or small group of people working on applications you may choose to use people as designer/developers.
