Search Object Property Query - excluding data using partial words

Following on from an earlier query, is there anyway in which I can filter out search objects based partial words.

For instance if a word within the data included "Pineapple" and I only wanted to exclude words like "Apple" I would ideally like it to omit those including "Pineapple" if possible.  I have tried a variety of different formats and search properties but but everytime I put in "-Apple" it includes "Pineapple" within the filtered data which is not what I would like it to do.

Any tips would be gratefully received.

Thanks, Mike.

Set the Default Search Mode to 'Use Normal Search'. You can change this on the General tab of the Search object properties window. Or change the default on the General tab of the User Preferences window.

Thanks Gysbert.  I have tried that but it still doesn't work.  I have tried all of the options within the default search mode.
