Setting Variables with if statement

is it possible to set variables with if statement and how do i do that in load statement or directly though variable overview.

Statement would be:

if([Segment]= 'External Wholesale', [Company Type])

I have to do it for another 5 segments as doing if clause in Dimension does not execute exceptions correctly in my complicated Pivot tables.
