step 1 was to remove any unused fields (Helped a bit)
step 2 to was to try and improve the refresh of objects that occurs when you use clear. this was harder
I noticed that the memory usage increased by 10GB while clearing (I had a progress bar for about 20 seconds) on a straight pivot table but when complete this reduced by the same 10GB.
The same happened when I sorted a Column in the pivot.
I then went to increase the memory allocated in my user preferences and noticed that the highest value I can put in these and succesfully persist is 1000mb it will go further but it doesnt retain the setting on restarts of the program. ive got 130GB available on X64 so I can spare a little more in pursuit of performance
Im using Version 8.5 Will 9.0 allow me to reserve more memory in this option ?
or is there the possibility of a registry edit for 8.5 ?
