Tasks scheduled by an event trigger instead of a date/time

1. how the QV Server processing works when the tasks are scheduled by an event trigger instead of a date/time.

2. Part of my project we need to include the automation of the QV refreshes which would need to be triggered based on the receipt of a file on the QV server. 

Please help me to understand how this process works. Thanks in advance!
