Trying Activating QlikView Server and getting Error.

Hi Guys,

I am trying to activate QlikView Server but getting Error Message after providing Licence key and Control Number "Server failed to set license: QVS@qlkview01: Unable to contact the QlikView License Enabling Server. Please verify that you are connected to the Internet and try again or contact QlikView support for assistance. "

Even same problem I am facing when trying to activate Publisher and getting error message: "Failed to retrieve LEF from registration server. "

I have checked and Internet is available to the machine where QlikView Server is installed. I would like to know what could be the reason and how can i rectify that.

Hi All,

we found the issue and here is the description which may help other people also.

I installed QlikView server with my local account and later I changed it to a Service Account (Go to Services-->Open each of QlikView Servers-->Log On-->This account and then provide Service account User ID and password)

then next to activate the QlikView servers Internet is required to that machine where Server is installed. I provided internet access by doing proxy setting (Tool-->Internet Options-->Connections-->LAN Settings-->Check the option 'Use a proxy server for your LAN and then provide the address and port for that (This you may ask from you network team)')

After setting the proxy I was allowed to use internet and google and other sites were opening without any error but when tried to activate the license of QlikView Server still I was getting the a above error.

Issue:

This error was due to reason: Qlik View services are running under Service account but the proxy for inter was running under my local account.

Solution:

Once I logged into the machine with Service account and changed the Proxy setting under Service account and then tried activating and then I got successful message:)

Conclusion: Both QlickView Services and Internet proxy should be running under one account.

Your solution helped me as well.  I work remotely and from time to time I need to run a big QVD generator from a Cloud Server hosted on site.  Therefore I installed QlikView Desktop on a Windows 2012 Server.  For some reason this server lost its proxy settings and access to the Internet.  This wasn't a problem until I upgraded to QlikView Desktop 12.  The new version wanted to verify the license but could not reach the license server.  Replacing the correct proxy settings from within Internet Explorer (as you laid out) fixed everything.  Thank you!
