Variable Based Expression Help

HI,  Im using the following expression to limit what is shown in a pivot chart (which is working) :

=If(vSelection = 'Type 1' or vSelection = 'Type 2',

    if(dashboard=vSelection,If(single_value='N',num((sum(val1)/sum(val2)),'#,###.00%'), num(sum(val3/2),'#,###.00'))),

    if(category=vSelection,If(single_value='N',num((sum(val1)/sum(val2)),'#,###.00%'), num(sum(val3/2),'#,###.00'))))        

The 'Value' can either be a Sum or a Percentage Rate.

When I try and use this same expression in a Line Chart not all the Dimensions are shown - only a selection.

If I use this expression in the line chart : If(single_value='N',num((sum(val1)/sum(val2)),'#,###.00%'), num(sum(val3/2),'#,###.00')) , everthing is shown.  But I need to limit the dimensions dependent on the the value of vSelection.
