Concatenating tables is most often used when you have multiple fact tables that you want to use in your data model. Qlik's unique ability to simply concatenate the tables and reuse your conformed dimensions is a quick and easy way to overcome this data modelling challenge. The alternative is to use a link table. If you google Link Table v's Concatenation you'll find much on this topic.
