What is a master in qlikview (in general)

Hi everybody.

I understand the concept of master calendar, but i´m editing an application and i have a lots of "master_x" for example master of config or master of accounting.

What does the term "MASTER" means?

Sory if the question if very simple and general, thank you all.

Hi,

Here i think those are master tables means dimension tables.

But master calender is separate thing compare to master tables.

here we can cal dimension tables as master tables

and fact tables are transaction tables.

Sounds right.   Dimension tables can be described as a list of customers for example.  The term 'master' could refer to the fact that customer information can be very fragmented in an organization and that some measures have been taken to clean up the list of customers to create a 'master list' that can be used over and over again with confidence. It seems redundant but  I would guess that this is what is being referred to.
