Why editable table using inputfield and inputsum() failed in a copy, but working fine in the original QVW?

Hello Everyone,

In my QVW, I have created editable tables using inputfield and inputsum(). And it is working fine.
But when I copy the QVW to another location with the different name, editable table doesn't show anything. All the remaining things are working fine in the duplicate QVW.

I have copied all the required files which are used in the script e.g. .qvd, .XL etc. There is no error in the script on reload.

What might be the problem? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Regards

Are your variables getting copied too? Are you using the same QV-version on both loads?

Thanks Michael

Yes, Same version of QV Desktop.

Variable are defined in the script itself. So, when I copy the whole QVW along with the required files, then it will have completely different set of all the script variables. This is what I think, but I may be wrong, if QV is sharing common workspace for two similar QVW files? In short, what are the things should be taken care of while copying QVW to another location?

Original QVW is placed in a folder with all the required files. For e.g. "Sample.qvw" in a folder "Scheme1" along with all the XLs, QVDs etc.

I copied whole folder and named it as "Scheme1Copy" and also change the name of QVW file to "SampleCopy.qvw"

Not a single change other than this. My script in the copy gets executed successfully.

But in a sheet where my editable tables are, shows only empty tables [pivot] with only the names of dimensions. inputsum(inputfield_var) expression is not producing anything.

Same thing is working fine in the original. That means, there is no problem in usage of input fields and inputsum() etc.

I hope this will help to understand my query. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Regards.

If the paths in your script are correct also at the place where you copied it to you shouldn't have to take care of anything else. Have you compared the two generated script logs? Are they exact copies of each other except from timestamps?

If so I'm afraid I have run out of ideas what the problem might be.

Michael, My script is getting executed successfully, i.e. it is getting what is needed for execution, otherwise it could given me an error. The inputfields variables are defined in the same script in which the table is loaded. So no matter whatever may be the path. It is really unusual kind of behviour. BTW, may I know where can I see the log files?

Have anybody experiance the same behaviour with the inputfield and inputsum()? Any urgent help would be highly appreciated.

Guys,  I didnt make any change from last 2 or 3 months in the original QVW. At that time it was working fine even after reloading.

Now I just made copy of the orginal QVW without trying reloading the original script in original QVW, knowing that it was working perfectly fine few months back.

now the most unusual thing happened. I opened the original QVW from the original folder where the editable table was working. On openeing the QVW, I could see the editable tables and I could edit the values. But, on executing the script [Reload], all my editable tables expressions dissappeared.

I thought there might be problem in copying, renaming etc. But now the original file itself is not working.

Any idea guys?
